Keto & Paleo Chocolate Fudge Protein Fat Bomb Smoothie

A dairy-free, gluten-free, refined sugar-free, fat bomb smoothie that is packed with great fats from Avocado, MCT Coconut Oil, and essential amino acids from Collagen Peptide Protein Powder.

Is this fat bomb smoothie a good alternative to Bulletproof coffee?

If your intentions are to increase your daily fat intake of healthy fats, then yes this smoothie is a great alternative to a bulletproof coffee. As this recipe includes almond milk, cocoa, and avocado you would not want to use this as part of an intermittent fast, however.

So, it is dependent on the reason why you are looking for an alternative to a bulletproof coffee. Black coffee or water are ideal whilst following a fast and a smoothie like this is a great way to help avoid sugars and to increase your healthy fats.  

What the difference between this smoothie recipe and a fat bomb?

A fat bomb is a solid, ball or cup of healthy fats normally made with coconut oils and/or dairy and are also great ways to increase your healthy fats. This recipe contains similar ingredients and is another way to help increase your fats and can be made instantly without waiting for fat bombs to freeze.

Why do you use MCT coconut oil in this recipe?

We use pure triple steam distilled coconut MCT oil (C8 and C10) in this recipe to help increase the healthy fats. It's unflavoured and 100% from coconut (no palm oil) and it blends really well. You can find out more information about the benefits of MCT oil here. 

Why use Collagen Protein in this recipe?

Collagen protein powder that has been Hydrolysed (like our Hunter & Gather collagen) is easily digested and utilised by the body. It is a pure, gluten-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free source of protein that is also free from bulkers, thickeners, or chemicals. 

We add collagen to this recipe to provide a dose of essential amino acids such as Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine and Threonine.

Can I make this recipe using Raw milk instead?

Yes, you can indeed make this recipe with Raw milk. If you are following a Keto lifestyle, the lactose, and carbohydrate content in cow's milk could mean that this does not fit within your daily macros, however. Buffalo milk has a much higher fat content than cow's milk but is similar in terms of carbohydrates but may fit better with your daily macros. Double Cream with some added water is another alternative if you would like to try this recipe with dairy.
