The Hunter & Gather Guide to the UK's Top 4 Regenerative Beef Burgers

THE ULTIMATE REAL FOOD BURGER ROUNDUP – 4 BRANDS WE RATE THIS BBQ SEASON

BBQ season is upon us, and to help you pick a patty worthy of your grill (or, in our case, the office air‑fryer), we rounded up five UK burgers from brands that share our obsession with real food, regenerative farming, and knock‑out flavour. Then we cooked, chomped, and scored them…purely for science, of course. Here's our roundup of producers doing it right.

Oath Food Co "Everything" Burger

Why we love it:

These nose-to-tail burgers come from 100% grass-fed British cattle raised using regenerative agriculture practices. The "Everything Burger" blends premium cuts with bone marrow, liver and heart for an incredible depth of flavour.

Tasting notes:

Our team loved the rich, meaty taste that came from the organs. Harry, our Head of Product, said, "It's exactly what a burger should be: simple, nutrient-dense and absolutely delicious."

Improvements:

Use of fresh herbs gave it a strong herby flavour that could be overpowering for some.

Pipers Farm Grass-Fed Steak Burgers

Why we love it:

Family-run Pipers Farm raises native breed cattle on Devon's lush pastures. Their steak burgers contain nothing but pure, grass-fed beef, onion, salt and black pepper, hand-pressed into generous patties.

Tasting notes:

The exceptional texture and clean finish won us over. "You can taste the difference when animals are raised properly on pasture," Ian, our Sales Director, mentioned between bites.

Improvements:

Texture was most like a “supermarket” burger and less artisan than some of the others.

Thomas Joseph Dry-Aged BBQ Burgers

Why we love it:

This artisan butchery makes its burgers from a blend of chuck, brisket, and short rib, plus the flavour-packed dry-aged edges from their steaks give them a rich and juicy flavour. Their burgers come from native breeds raised on regenerative farms in Yorkshire.

Tasting notes:

These had us all reaching for seconds. "Proper special occasion burgers", noted our founder, Jeff, while nabbing the last one.

Improvements:

We would love to see this available more widely as we couldn’t fault the taste, currently available on their website but not in supermarkets.

Hill Farm Gluten-Free Beef Burgers

Why we love it:

Hill Farm's dedication to traditional butchery shines through in their burgers. For the purists among us, these burgers offer exactly what you want: just grass-fed beef and nothing but Anglesey sea salt added.

Tasting notes:

The simplicity won our hearts. "When the beef is this good, you don't need to mess about with it," Thom remarked.

Improvements:

We couldn’t fault the simplicity of these burgers and they will be a crowd favourite, but lacked depth of flavour compared to a more aged meat burger such as Thomas Joseph.
