    Dosage suggestion

We recommend that between and 10g to 30g daily is taken daily. This is of course dependant on your individual lifestyle requirements such as activity levels and current health status.

If in doubt, we recommend you consult with a trained health practitioner that has an appreciation and understanding for integrative/functional healthcare.

Our collagen powder is simply a protein powder without anything added and as such can be viewed as a 'real food' supplement.

This bag is designed for 1 months supply at 2 standard tablespoons / 13g per serving daily.

It’s pretty darn obvious, but food supplements are not designed to replace a real food, varied lifestyle and diet.

What is the difference between gelatin and collagen?

Hydrolysed collagen and gelatin are different. Although though both originate and are made from collagen itself with amino acids, collagen and gelatin appear very different.

Collagen peptides are smaller molecules than collagen produced by a natural enzymatic hydrolysis and they are more rapidly absorbed by the body (90% of peptides are absorbed within a few hours after taking).

Gelatin has a longer molecular structure than collagen peptides and are not as soluble or as well absorbed by the body. Gelatin has a thicker jelly like structure too.

Does collagen support healthy, younger looking skin?

Collagen is leading the functional beauty trend around the world. It's no wonder, when this natural supplement can support the health of your skin, hair and nails and help avoid the appearance of ageing.

Collagen makes up 70% of our dry-mass skin content and as a major part of our skins structure, collagen fibres help support the elasticity of the skin by providing the infrastructure for elastin.

As we age, our collagen levels naturally decline. The collagen matrix that provides skin firmness and structure starts to break down and our skin can become dehydrated and thinner, with fine lines and wrinkles beginning to appear.

Not only does collagen support the structure of the skin to avoid ageing, but it also has been proven to increase moisture levels to help improve dry skin too.

Environmental pollution and harmful ultraviolet rays can also pre-maturely damage collagen fibers, limit hyaluronic acid production and decrease water content in our skin. This dehydration can cause it to appear prematurely aged and wrinkled. Collagen can help with this too.

Taking collagen peptides daily can increase not only the skin’s collagen density, but also its moisture levels, while decreasing and plumping wrinkles.

How can collagen help with healthy ageing?

As we age, our natural collagen levels reduce year on year. This can start as early as your mid 20's with many of us seeing an acceleration of collagen decline by the time we hit 40 years old.

Which as the most abundant protein in our bodies, a decline in natural collagen levels can lead to a range of symptoms, such as aching joints, weaker bones, lack of plumpness and moisture in the skin to name just a few.

By supplementing with Hunter & Gather Bovine collagen, you will be supporting healthy ageing through benefiting health joints, strong bones and lean muscle mass and strength.

How can collagen peptides support my gut health or improve my gut microbiome?

Leaky gut is becoming more of a common term, with breakages present in your gut lining and gastrointestinal tract. When gaps or breakages occur in your gut lining, food particles can be absorbed into your blood stream leading to a influx of inflammation.

We now know that there are a number of illnesses that can stem directly from a leaky gut, with inflammation or irritation stemming from the health of your guts themselves.

Collagen helps to heal your gut and improve your gut health by providing a protective lining to the gastrointestinal tract.

Studies have found that in patients with inflammatory bowel disease, serum concentrations of collagen are decreased. Because the amino acids in collagen build the tissue that lines the colon and GI tract, supplementing with collagen can help treat gastrointestinal symptoms and disorders, including leaky gut syndrome, IBS, acid reflux, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

How can using collagen help with my joint health?

With many of us wanting to stay as active as possible throughout our lives, our joint health and flexibility is key - especially as we age.

Humans have over 350 joints in our bodies with our shoulders, elbows and knees being classed as Synovial joints (or free moving joints) that can move in lot's of directions. These are the most likely to be impacted negatively by exercise strain and utilising collagen post exercise could help with recovery.

Collagen can support your joints through improving inflammation, supporting the repair of surrounding muscles and supporting bone strength.

Are the amino acids from collagen peptides actually absorbed or is the collagen protein molecule too large?

Hydrolysed collagen is collagen that has gone through an enzymatic process to break down the collagen protein into smaller particles - which are easier for your body to digest and utilse. This enzymatic process is free from toxic chemicals or heavy metals and enables a greater absorption level of the amino acids found in the collagen protein powder itself.
