Just five real ingredients

Mayonnaise is one of those everyday staples that earns its place in the fridge. Spread through sandwiches, spooned alongside roasted vegetables, turned into dressings or brought out for dipping.

When something gets used that often, we think what goes into the jar matters. For our Avocado Oil Mayonnaise, it starts with the oil. Avocado oil makes up 80% of every jar, cold-pressed from the flesh of Spanish avocados and chosen for its smooth, subtly creamy flavour. It gives our mayonnaise its rich, mellow base without overpowering whatever you’re eating it with. From there, we keep things simple.

British free-range egg yolk brings richness and creaminess, while apple cider vinegar and pink Himalayan salt round out the flavour. Just five real, recognisable ingredients in total. The egg yolk is used in its natural liquid form, gently pasteurised, rather than powdered, with no preservatives, fillers, flow agents or stabilisers. The result is a rich, creamy, seed oil-free mayonnaise made with 100% natural ingredients, with no gluten or refined sugar.

Familiar enough to go with almost anything, but made with ingredients worth paying attention to.

From a problem everyone had but nobody solved

Hunter & Gather began in 2017 with Amy and Jeff and a belief that everyday food could be made better. Amy grew up coeliac, reading every label and cooking from scratch from an early age. Jeff came to real food through his own journey with diet, lifestyle and supplementation. Different beginnings, but the same belief: food should be made from things your body recognises.

Real ingredients, chosen with purpose, without compromising on taste. It started with a jar of mayonnaise. Today, that same thinking goes into everything we make.

Customer Reviews

Does Avocado Oil Mayonnaise taste like avocado?

No. Avocado oil has a mild, mellow flavour, so this tastes like a rich, classic mayonnaise rather than of avocado. The tang comes from apple cider vinegar and the creaminess from British free-range egg yolk, which is why it works as a straight swap for the jar you already buy.

How should I store Avocado Oil Mayonnaise?

Keep it in the cupboard until you open it, then store it high up in the fridge door rather than at the back. Below around 4°C it can begin to solidify, which is why the coldest parts of the fridge are worth avoiding. Once opened, follow the guidance printed on the jar.

Why has my mayonnaise separated or gone solid?

Because there are no thickeners or artificial preservatives in it, the emulsion can break if the temperature swings sharply. It is rare, and more likely in winter. If it happens to your jar, get in touch and our customer care team will sort it out for you. It is not a sign the mayonnaise has spoiled.

What can I use Avocado Oil Mayonnaise with?

Sandwiches, wraps, burgers, salads and bowls, roasted vegetables, fish, chicken and meat, dips, dressings and sharing plates. This is the versatile everyday one in the range, so it is the jar to reach for when you want richness without a strong flavour of its own.
