    What makes your mayonnaise suitable for the Keto or Paleo Diet?

    When searching for an approved mayo, be sure not to just check the macros but also the ingredients of the mayonnaise itself. Rapeseed oil (Canola), sunflower oil, and sugar should be avoided. Vegetable and Seed oils are inflammatory and we believe are best avoided in the pursuit of Optimal Health and Wellness.

    This Limited Edition Hunter & Gather mayo only uses 100% olive oil and no blends of oils. They are also low in carbohydrates and sugar-free but packed with great monounsaturated fats so are perfect for a Paleo, Keto, Low Carb or Real Food Lifestyle. We also have a range of 100% avocado oil mayonnaise too. 

    Do you use free-range eggs?

    Yes! They are also British and sourced from St. Ewe farms in Cornwall. 

    We never use powder eggs like the majority of other mayonnaise brands as they typically have undeclared flow agents in them.

    Our traditional mayonnaise range uses British Free Range Egg Yolk (no egg white) from St Ewe Farms. If you are egg intolerant check out our Egg Free mayo here

    Does your Limited Edition mayonnaise contain any dairy?

    No - real mayonnaise should never have dairy! If there is dairy in it then it is not real mayonnaise in our opinion.

    All of our mayonnaise ranges are free from milk, including milk powders, whey, and anything derived from milk. 

    Where do the olives come from that go into your Limited Edition mayonnaise?

    The olives used to make the oil in our Limited Edition Mayo are exclusively from the Córdoba Region in Southern Spain and they support the farming communities of the Cordoba region who have been olive farmers for generations. 

     

    Do you use Extra Virgin Olive Oil in your Limited Edition mayonnaise?

    To make our Limited Edition Lemon and Olive mayonnaise we use light olive oil since it does not have as intense a flavour as extra-virgin olive oil, which is very strong. The oil that we use is obtained by a physical extraction method and we do not use any hexane chemicals or solvents in making the oil. 
     

    Is the Olive Oil Lab tested for purity?

    Yes, every batch of olive oil is lab-tested for pesticide residue and heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, iron and copper. We test for a number of common pesticides in every batch of oil made including Oxyflurofen, Chlorpyrifos (one of the most widely used pesticides) and Bromopropylate. 

    Each batch of the olive oil is also analysed for its fatty acid structure, wax count and acidity levels, all of which help to determine the quality of the oil and to confirm that it is 100% olive oil.

    Why is this mayonnaise more expensive than your avocado oil range?

    This 100% Olive Oil Mayonnaise is a limited edition and therefore only a small number of jars will be made - meaning that our costs to produce are higher. 

    As always we have sourced the finest quality ingredients from the light olive oil from ancient olive groves in Spain to the Spanish lemons. All ingredients we meticulously source to ensure there are no seed oils, grains or refined sugar used to make the ingredients as well as the final product. 

    How should I store Hunter & Gather mayonnaise?

    Our mayonnaise is an ambient product (no need to refrigerate until it is opened).

    We also recommend not storing in the fridge until you open your mayonnaise. This prevents it from getting too cold and potentially solidifying.

    Once opened and in use, store as high as possible in the fridge door. Do not store low down in your fridge or at the back of your fridge (the coldest areas that can cause it to solidify).

    We suggest your fridge is set no lower than 4 deg C.

    Why has my mayonnaise separated / split / turned to liquid / gone hard?

    Our mayonnaise is made with natural real food ingredients without any nasty preservatives or thickeners. This means the mayo can turn solid and the emulsification can break due to significant temperature fluctuations - this is very rare but can happen especially during Winter.

    How long does Hunter & Gather mayonnaise last?

    Hunter & Gather mayonnaise is best used before the ‘best before end’ date that is printed on the lid. 

    Typically all mayonnaise bought directly from Hunter & Gather will have 6 months or more
