Can eating meat solve our declining health AND save the planet? We believe it can, here's why.

A Problem of an Industrial Scale

The rise of industrial farming escalated from the need to contribute to a food chain where supply meets ever-growing demand. The trouble is, the Earth is a finite resource and so the more we use those resources, the less sustainable farming becomes.

One of the biggest challenges of industrial farming is the impact it has on the land, particularly soil. Some of our most fertile agricultural lands are now completely damaged due to poor management of our topsoil, as a result of aggressive industrial farming.

Soil health is so important not only for sustainability but also for nutrition and human health. Currently so much of the soil that our food is grown in is completely devoid of nutrients - and it’s part of the reason why we’re facing a massive health crisis.


What is the Solution?

One of the most important changes we can make to our food production systems to help solve this problem is to invest in regenerative agriculture.

Regenerative agriculture is a holistic system of farming which aims to improve soil quality and biodiversity - rather than deplete it. This can be made possible by using a greatly reduced amount of fertilisers and chemicals, to protect the land in favour of natural and Organic practices.

And here, animals have a role to play too...

🌱 Livestock also sequesters carbon, storing it in soil helps lower the amount of carbon in the atmosphere

🌱 Improves microbiological diversity with the elimination of harmful chemicals and pesticides

So, with regenerative agriculture the precious land ecosystems benefits too.

Why is this so important? Not only does this help restore ecosystems that had been left deserted (which is great for the planet), but it also means that we get more nutrient-dense food, which is great for our health too.

The Future of Farming

Sounds great right, but is this possible for everyone?

This is a fair question. The reality is, the choice that we currently have in our supermarkets isn’t sustainable. We need to get familiar with where the food we’re eating comes from, eating seasonally and eating nose-to-tail just as our ancestors did.

Perhaps just as important - in a time where food wastage is around 30%, we really need to have a think about drastically improving our food system.
