I've got more questions! Why is your Egg Free Mayo called MAYOCADO?
As you may know, if mayonnaise does not contain eggs then it is prohibited to be called mayonnaise.
So, we decided to get our thinking caps on and created the name MAYOCADO - which is a mix of Mayo and Avocado. We think it works quite well - what do you think?
Does MAYOCADO have any dairy or other allergens?
It certainly doesn’t!
All of our mayonnaise and MAYOCADO range is free from milk, including milk powders, whey, and anything derived from milk.
Our MAYOCADO is also free from eggs and we do not use any of the top 14 allergens (e.g. mustard, soy, gluten, etc.) in our recipe. It's also free from any artificial bulkers, fillers, and chemical preservatives too.
Our traditional mayonnaise range uses British Free Range Egg Yolk (no egg white) from St Ewe Farms.
Is MAYOCADO suitable for vegans?
Yes - it certainly is.
How should I store Hunter & Gather Egg-Free MAYOCADO?
Our MAYOCADO is an ambient product (no need to refrigerate until it is opened).
We recommend not storing in the fridge until the day you want to use your MAYOCADO. This prevents it from getting too cold and potentially solidifying.
Once opened and in use, store high up in the condiments compartment of your fridge door.
Do not store low down in your fridge or at the back of your fridge (the coldest areas that can cause it to solidify).
We suggest your fridge is set no lower than 4 deg C.
Why has my MAYOCADO separated / split / turned to liquid / gone hard?
Our MAYOCADO is made with natural real food ingredients without any nasty preservatives or thickeners. This means the mayo can turn solid and the emulsification can break due to significant temperature fluctuations - this is very rare but can happen especially during Winter.
If this has happened, please contact our customer care team via the contact us page - they will be happy to assist you!
How long does Hunter & Gather MAYOCADO last?
Hunter & Gather mayo is best used before the ‘best before end’ date that is printed on the lid.
Typically all MAYOCADO bought directly from Hunter & Gather will have 6 months or more of shelf life.
How many avocados are used in each jar?
We cold-press and physically filter our avocado oil (there are no chemicals used) from the flesh of perfectly ripe avocados.
We use the oil from 6 avocados for every jar of Mayocado.
What is the fatty acid profile of avocado oil?
Typically, avocado oil is made up of 76% monounsaturated fatty acids, 14% saturated fatty acids and 10% polyunsaturated fatty acids.
